Let’s start with some classic horror movies to scare you. You probably have seen these, if so why not watch them again? If you haven’t seen them, here’s your chance to scare yourself silly this Halloween!

Alien (NOWTV) – In space no one can hear you scream! So the tag line goes, however in your front room it might be a different story… Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) and the crew of the Nostromo battle a rather nasty extra terrestrial after answer a distress call on a distant planet. Needless to say, things don’t go well and the bodies mount up quickly. The film went on to spawn a fair few sequels and spin offs, but this outer space stalk and slash has been copied but never really bettered (Other than it’s own sequel Aliens).

The Omen (NOWTV) If your looking for gore, you won’t find it here. What you will find here in this classic British horror is one of best the horrors of the 70’s which is downright terrifying. A simple premise, what if the Antichrist himself was born and grew up in a powerful family. Part of a trilogy, this is the best of the three, with a Oscar winning score from Jerry Goldsmith.

Friday The 13th Part II (NOWTV) The best of the Jason Vorhees saga, follows on the from the first (Which *spoiler alert* doesn’t feature Jason) where another group of hapless camp counsellors descend on Crystal Lake only for Jason to turn up and take revenge on them all. Simple premise, brilliantly executed (Pun intended) if a bit dated now.

Cabin In The Woods (Prime Video/Netflix) It’s best not knowing too much about this movie going in, which makes the experience all that much better. Featuring Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth in a very different role, this is a horror movie with a difference. And if you enjoy this, then it’s also worth seeking out Tucker And Dale Vs. Evil too.

In our final fearsome threesome of Halloween movies, we offer you a collection of movies that have you lloking behind you, under the bed or simply trying to escape the grasp of whatever it is chasing you.

Misery (Netflix) The only Stephen King adaptation in our list, here we have a superfan attempting to pursuade an author to change his mind about the plot of a upcoming novel. Featuring a scene so shocking if you don’t know it’s coming, it’ll have you limping for a week. Novelist Paul Sheldon crashes his car on a snowy Colorado road. He is found by Annie Wilkes, the “number one fan” of Paul’s heroine Misery Chastaine. Annie is also somewhat unstable, and Paul finds himself crippled, drugged and at her mercy. One of the better Stephen King novels that maybe hasn’t had such a wide audience.

Childs Play (Netflix) Not the original version of the killer doll ‘Chucky’ that created six sequels. But the recent re-imagining that works spectacularly well and possibly improves on the original. Chucky is voiced by Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, this is one toy that might make you think twice about A.I. based toys. Karen, a single mother, gifts her son Andy a Buddi doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature.

Shaun Of The Dead (Prime Video) The first of the Cornetto Trilogy from Edgar Wright, starring Simon Pegg and a host of Zombies trying to ruin his day and prevent him from taking the car. Go to mum’s. Kill Phil, grab Liz, go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over.
