“I am excited about This Is The Moment! because it gives us the chance to show off our new material, our work and improvements over the last 12 months. I can think of no better way to help your general health and wellbeing than joining with like minded people in learning songs together, and making music with friends – it is always a joy!”

– Choir Member

I’m excited for the concert so that each wonderful choir member can showcase all their hard work and their love for singing. The enthusiasm and the joy they bring each week make Wednesday evenings a highlight for me and now you get to experience it too! More people are always welcome at Choir, too. We are a fun and supportive group, always up for a laugh and always cheering each other on. The Hazlitt Institute Choir has become a real community and a family.”

Hazlitt Instititue Boys Will be Boys
on Screen One

Boys Will Be Boys is a project collaboration between local writer Frank Saunders and the Hazlitt Institute for Performing Arts. The project has the intention to create arts opportunities for local young people as well as giving free theatre experiences for local schools to enjoy.

Boys will be Boys is an urgent new play that explores modern masculinity and the pressures on today’s digital generation. Boys Will Be Boys is new writing for young audiences, and brings current social media content into theatre spaces, developing the crossover of traditional and modern practices. The play will use digital technology to push the boundaries of live performance and challenge young people’s perception of theatre.

With three performances open to the public and six free school shows, this important new play showcases local young talent and brings young people’s experiences to the fore in new and exciting ways.

About the story…

Finn is a level-headed 16-year-old. Despite being comfortable in his own skin, he feels like an outsider as the only one who goes to a “posh school.” He’s pressured by best mate Knock and streetwise Silver to take his relationship with Gemma to the next level.

A crazy house party, unsolicited nudes and a vicious attack threatens to fracture the group of friends as they disagree about speaking out. They face a dilemma they could never have imagined.

An urgent new play that explores modern masculinity and the pressures on today’s digital generation online and IRL.
