In Superman Man of Tomorrow, it’s the dawn of a new age of heroes, and Metropolis has just met its first. But as Daily Planet intern Clark Kent – working alongside reporter Lois Lane – secretly wields his alien powers of flight, super-strength and x-ray vision in the battle for good, there’s even greater trouble on the horizon.
DC continue their steady flow of solid animated universe releases with S:MoT. As another spin on the origins of Kal-El and how he ended becoming who he is, as we know him today this is a little different than the usual storyline.
With an animation style reminiscent of ‘Archer‘, MoT jumps straight into the action and brings Lobo and Martian Manhunter inot the story. Centering on a sense of belonging and being an Alien and the baggage that brings, it gets a little weighed down at times with this side plot that drags the pacing. However wht’s great is Ryan Hurst’s (Son of Anarchy/The Walking Dead) Lobo who eats up all the scenes he’s in. In fact the film suffers somewhat when he’s not around as he’s clearly the most interesting character in this film.
The films biggest plus alongside Ryan Hurst (Lobo) is the stellar voice cast Zachary Quinto (Luthor), Alexandra Daddario (Lois Lane), Ike Amadi (Martian Manhunter) & Darren Criss as Supes. The talent hereis simply incredible and really makes the film pulse with energy.
With some great extras including a extended look at the next big DC Animated offering Batman: Soul of the Dragon, which also looks like great fun with another selection of great voice cast (Michael Jai White, Kelly Hu, James Hong and Mark Dacascos) this is a decent addition to any DC fans collection.
