Release date: 10 April 1981 (UK)

Screen One Movie Musicals Month - Popeye the Movie Scren One

After the recent passing of Shelley Duvall it seems fitting that Popeye be included in this list. Pretty much only available on US Import Blu-Ray now (Why isn’t it on Disney+?!?!) It is well worth seeking out. ANother much under-rated movie and also one of Robin Williams best. Panned on release, it’s actual a wonderful family movie with a lot of slapstick and laughs. If you can also seek out the making of Robert Altman’s movie, as it’s almost as amazing as the film itself. Finally if you really fancy it, you can make a homage to Popeye Villiage as the set is still in one piece in Malta and it has become the Island’s top tourist attraction since.
