The highly anticipated premiere of Scarlet Blue, the latest film from visionary director Aurélia Mengin. Known for her groundbreaking work, Mengin continues to push boundaries and create compelling narratives that captivate audiences worldwide.
Mario Bava meets David Lynch in Aurélia Mengin’s shocking visual extravaganza. Forty-year-old Alter suffers from depression, schizophrenia and a schism of communication with her mother. After a suicide attempt, she consults a healer who practices mystical hypnosis and lives an isolated existence in a cave. And it seems Léandro Lecreulx’s unique methods are effective for each session he infiltrates deeper into Alter’s unconscious and connects her to her deepest childhood fears. Then Léandro gives her a Polaroid camera so she can take photos before and after each crisis. Will they help piece together her memory loss puzzle?
Aurélia Mengin hails from Réunion Island, a small French territory near Madagascar, where filmmaking is a relatively new and challenging endeavor. In 2018, Mengin made history with her debut feature film, FORNACIS, which was released on Amazon Prime UK, becoming the first woman from her island to direct a film for cinema. Her journey is one of passion, commitment, and relentless determination.
“Making movies for me is a true commitment and a strong fight,” says Mengin. Scarlet Blue promises to be a testament to this dedication, offering a unique and powerful cinematic experience that reflects her distinctive voice and perspective.
