OVERRIDE is released 6 September.

After a few name changes (Formerly known as R.I.A.), Override debuts on digital with some momentum behind it. Starring Jess Impiazzi in her best role to date, straight to digital favourites former Superman Dean Cain, the other Bros. Luke Goss and err pop star Sinitta, Override as it’s now titled is actually works with it’s limited budget to produce a dystopian Truman Show that, is better than you would think it’s going to be.

Ria (Jess Impiazzi) is a young woman who finds herself reliving the same day over and over. Each day Ria wakes up to her normal routine but finds a different person playing her husband ‘Jack’ by her side. Why? Because Ria is actually the star of her own reality show ‘A DAY WITH RIA’.

Each husband is a contestant, there to show the world what they are made of. Ria re-lives her perfect 1950’s housewife day over and over again, until one day her routine becomes tiresome and Ria holds the current Jack (Charlie Clapham) to ransom.

This Jack also happens to be the Vice President (Dean Cain) of the USA’s son. These dramatic turns of events mean the public discovers the true massive conspiracy behind Ria, her husband(s) and one man’s (Luke Goss) secret vendetta against the Vice President.

Override, has some very interesting themes that it tries to delve into. Budgetary constraints probably curbed a lot of it though and what we have here is a decent sci-fi thriller that actually hits it’s genre beats and manages to entertain throughout.

Director Richard Colton, who previously worked with Impiazzi and Cain on the not so great The Seven, has vastly improved his style here with some very if cliched ticks, before the overblown climax, manages to slightly derail the momentum the slow burn of the opening hour of the film.

However it’s Jess Impiazzi, who single handedly allows Override to be entirely watchable. Her best performance to date, she looks like she could carve out a very good career in the brit flick indie scene and as a scream queen. As she saunters through her mundane existence on the TV show, there is something simply that you can’t take your eyes off about Ms. Impiazzi (And no we are not talking about the repeated shower scene!). Luke Goss appears in the early going and they combine with some decent chemistry, to make you want the two of them to succeed together despite him disappearing after a brief moment.

For the rest of the film, it looks great, doesn’t out stay it’s welcome and manages to keep you entertained. it’s not going to win any major awards, but you could spend 90 minutes watching something a lot worse.

Rating: 3 out of 5.

The future is here and it’s out of control in 4Digital Media’s dazzling sci-fi thriller starring Luke Goss, OVERRIDE, released 6 September.
