Review: Jackass Forever

That infamous guitar twang followed by someone crying out in excruciating pain has returned. Johnny Knoxville has reunited with the original crew of Jackass and brought some new members on board too (Including a girl! Rachel Wolfson) to entertain us with their own peculiar brand of sado-masochism with nether regions destroyed, people drowned in an various animal bodily fluids and electrocutions, concussions, burns, bites and broken bones.

Celebrate the joy of a perfectly executed shot to the groin as Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O and the rest of the gang return for another round of hilarious, wildly absurd and often dangerous displays of stunts and comedy.

Living in this modern world currently, it comes as a great escape to watch a group of friends get together and do simply stupid things, that may or may not end up with them in hospital following their latest stunt. Jackass Forever gives us that and a whole lot more. From the opening featuring Chris Pontius testicles attack a city, to Knoxville getting gored and concussed by a raging bull, the originators of the modern prank video are back in a big way.

Vile, disgusting, juvenile, purile Jackass Forever is all this and more, but that’s just the best parts. Laugh out loud funny, Knoxville, Steve-O, Pontius and co continue to not grow up despite the ongoing injuries adding up, not only re-enact some of their classic stunts, but bring a whole bunch of new stunts, such as the quiz game, that if you get a question wrong has your genitals whacked with a spring loaded shoe in a “last man standing” competition. Or how about Steve-O having a Queen Bee attached to his penis and then all the bees from the hive crowding on to the point where multiple stings later, he probably really regretted that life choice. Maybe being bolted to a chair with a electric neck brace attached, covered in honey, and lumps of salmon put all over you and the boys unleash a hungry Black Bear into the room with you, while being shocked, despite being told to not make a noise or move. This is what you come for, this is what you get.

The new members of the cast get involved with some gusto as do celebrities Machine Gun Kelly, Tyler The Creator, who also live to regret their decision to appear pretty quickly. However their pain is your entertainment and there is plenty of it. You have to question some of the more elaborate stunts, especially the ones that look like they may have not gone how they expected.(Pogo stick to the testicles with them getting torn and bleeding by the stunts end anybody?). However the new additions are in awe for the most part of their now legendary co-workers, but the group have so much fun together in pain, that they’ve clearly been embraced and hopefully we are witnessing the baton being passed.

With Jackass Forever you know you should be appalled and shocked, but you’re not. You’ll find yourself rolling in the aisles, falling about laughing and clutching various parts of your body in sympathy as you follow the gangs adventures for this outing. With a beautiful nod to the now departed Ryan Dunn. Either you like this kind of stuff, or you don’t. But one things for sure, Jackass may very well be Forever, but lets hope they don’t keep going and the handover to the new stars will give Jackass a new generation of lunatics to maim themselves for our entertainment.
