Extended Superman Sneak Peak Clip Teases James Gunn’s DC Universe

Superman starring David Corenswet Screen One

Warner Bros. and DC Studios have unveiled an extended sneak peek of James Gunn’s upcoming “Superman” film, offering fans a deeper look into the reimagined world of the iconic superhero. This five-minute clip, initially showcased at CinemaCon 2025, is now available for public viewing.

The footage opens with a vulnerable Superman, portrayed by David Corenswet, crash-landing in a snowy landscape. In a departure from his usual invincibility, the Man of Steel is visibly injured and calls out to his loyal companion, Krypto. The superpowered dog arrives with enthusiasm but inadvertently exacerbates Superman’s injuries in a darkly comedic sequence. Despite the mishaps, Krypto manages to drag his master to a rather cool looking Fortress of Solitude, where a team of cape-clad robotic assistants employs solar energy to facilitate his recovery.

This portrayal of Superman’s vulnerability aligns with director James Gunn’s vision to blend fantastical elements with grounded, emotional storytelling. Gunn aims to explore the complexities of Superman’s character, presenting him not just as an indestructible hero but as someone with relatable struggles and relationships.

The extended clip also introduces audiences to key characters set to appear in the film. Rachel Brosnahan takes on the role of the intrepid journalist Lois Lane, while Nicholas Hoult embodies the enigmatic Lex Luthor. Additionally, the film will feature Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, and Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner.

An intriguing aspect of the film is the inclusion of Krypto, whose characterization draws inspiration from Gunn’s own experiences with his rescue dog, Ozu. Gunn shared that Ozu’s mischievous behavior, including chewing up an expensive laptop, sparked the idea of depicting a superpowered pet with both endearing and troublesome traits

“Superman” is slated for release on July 11, 2025, marking a significant chapter in the revitalized DC Universe under Gunn’s direction. This film promises to offer a fresh perspective on the beloved superhero, intertwining classic elements with new, imaginative storytelling.
