The highly anticipated European debut of SCISSORHANDZ: A Musical Reinvented is set to take London by storm. Produced by Bradley Bredeweg, Kelley Parker & Brian Pendleton, alongside co-producers Lance Bass and Michelle Visage, this thrilling pop-musical parody lands at Southwark Playhouse, Elephant for an exclusive 10-week engagement from 23 January to 29 March 2025, with an official opening night on 30 January.
Returning to the iconic role of Scissorhands is Jordan Kai Burnett (Magic Mike Live Las Vegas, Romy & Michele the Musical), who originated the character in the acclaimed Los Angeles production. Joining Burnett is four-time Olivier Award nominee Emma Williams (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Mrs Henderson Presents, Half A Sixpence), who will portray Peg.
Also starring in this electrifying production:
The Ensemble: Candida Mosoma, Luke Cairns, Grace Towning
Dionne Gipson (original Scissorhandz cast, Los Angeles; Pee Wee’s Big Holiday) as The Inventor
Lauren Jones (Ragtime, London) as Kim
Annabelle Terry (Who Do Ya Love?, West End) as Esmeralda
Ryan O’Connor (original Scissorhandz cast, Los Angeles) as Helen
Richard Carson (The Hired Man, MAMMA MIA!, Oklahoma!) as Jim
SCISSORHANDZ offers a bold and camp reimagining of Tim Burton’s beloved Edward Scissorhands, blending comedy, heart, and anthemic pop hits from the likes of Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, and Alanis Morissette. The show is a celebration of self-expression and uniqueness, making it more than just a musical—it’s a movement!
Reflecting on the production, Jordan Kai Burnett shared:
“This show started as a beautiful pipe dream in a bar in LA, but it quickly grew into something much more: a safe haven where everyone can celebrate their uniqueness. London audiences are about to lose their minds at how camp, fierce, and electrifying this show is!”
Meanwhile, Emma Williams added:
“Like many 80s babies, Edward Scissorhands was one of my first crushes! The outsider, the unique, the misunderstood hero—we all fell in love. Whether you call it a celebration, a tribute, or a musical parody, SCISSORHANDZ is going to be truly EPIC!”
Following a sold-out, critically acclaimed run in Hollywood, SCISSORHANDZ now embarks on its European debut with further casting announcements to come. The production is led by Bradley Bredeweg as writer and director, with choreography by Alexzandra Sarmiento, musical direction by Gregory Nabours, and a stellar creative team featuring:
- Set Design: James Pearse Connelly
- Costume Design: Abby Clarke
- Lighting Design: Adam King
- Sound Design: Yvonne Gilbert
- Casting: Harry Blumenau Casting
- Production Management: James Anderton
- General Management: Wildpark Entertainment
With its blend of nostalgia, humor, and powerhouse performances, SCISSORHANDZ promises to be a must-see event of 2025. Tickets are on sale now—secure your spot for this one-of-a-kind theatrical experience!
