Ten years ago, Slade Wilson-aka the super-assassin called Deathstroke-made a tragic mistake and his wife and son paid a terrible price. Now, a decade later, Wilson’s family is threatened once again by the murderous Jackal and the terrorists of H.I.V.E. Can Deathstroke atone for the sins of the past-or will his family pay the ultimate price?
It’s the first animated movie outing for Slade Wilson in Deathstroke Knights & Dragons and it’s somewhat of a mixed bag. As usual the animation is beautifully done and it opens with a an almighty bang as Deathstroke (Voiced by Michael Chiklis) slices and dices his way through all manor of bad guys. Then the story take hold and as with most live action DC movies it decends into a family motivated story which removes his cold hearted killer persona and adds a conflicted anti-hero, which is not what the rabid fanbase may like to see.
But despite the action being well done, and pacing on point the character of Deathstroke is the movies single biggest stregth and weakness. When he’s the stone cold mercenary on a mission it’s fantastic. but at othertimes it tends to be Deadpool without the fun, which in itself makes ita long watch at times.
Overall Deathstroke Knights and Dragons is a decent addtion to the DC Animated movie pantheon. It’s not at the top end of the pile but it’s far from the worst. It’s watchable if you don’t set your expectations too high or aren’t a die hard Slade Wilson fan.
