The Hazlitt Theatre Launches Open Casting Call

The Hazlitt Theatre announces their search for a Prince Charming to sweep Maidstone pantomime audiences off their feet in Cinderella this festive season!

As part of their initiative to be an inclusive, original and community-centred arts and theatre venue, the Hazlitt Theatre are welcoming self-tapes from all performers who would like a chance to gain invaluable, paid professional experience. This is a unique opportunity to join a professional cast and creative team who are committed to delivering a high-quality production in the heart of Maidstone.

The Hazlitt Theatre is proud to have been producing in-house festive pantomimes annually since 2017, including The New Adventures of Peter Pan (2023), Sleeping Beauty (2022) and Jack and the Beanstalk (2021). These pantomimes offer a unique opportunity for hand-selected community casts to share the stage with professional dancers and West End performers. Previous cast members have gone on to star in productions like Tina Turner (West End UK Tour), Joseph (West End) and on cruises around the world.

The Hazlitt Theatre is passionate about providing opportunities to early career and unrepresented actors, singers and dancers to gain paid performance credits. That is why the search for this year’s Prince Charming is extending beyond agencies and into the local performing community.

Could you be Maidstone’s Prince Charming this Christmas?

If you:

Can act, perform and sing to a professional standard,
Are 18+ and have a playing age of 25 – 40
You are available from 18th November – 31st December and have the physical and mental stamina to commit to up to 60 performances during this time including weekends, Christmas week and New Years eve,
Can join us for our press launch on Tuesday 17th September and our VIP Opening Night on 29th November,
You have strong improvisation skills and work well in a team,
Are looking for a paid job with professional industry credit,
Think you can charm our Maidstone audiences, as well as Cinderella, inspire the next generation and bring the magic of Christmas to life…

We want to hear from you! Submit your details and self-tape (of a learnt song only to demonstrate performance skills) via the online form to be in with a chance of performing to sold-out audiences at the Hazlitt Theatre this festive season!

This opportunity is open to performers aged 18+ only. Applicants do not require professional representation but must be able to commit to all specified dates. Please note that only successful applicants will be contacted and invited to audition in person on 5th or 7th September.
