A peaceful town turns into a hell when the movement of Indian Ocean plate triggers a devastating earthquake there. Buildings start to crumble, and hundreds of people fall into sinkholes. A retired railway soldier and his son, an explosive demolition engineer, go deep into a solution cave to rescue the trapped people. A second quake will come in a few hours. To save the whole town from being buried by landslide, the only way is to blast the tunnel that they have worked on for 10 years.
Based on a real disaster, Cloudy Mountain is about a county in China that was devastated by an earthquake and a group of brave people who sacrificed themselves to save the town and its trapped residents.
Cloudy Mountain stars Zhu Yilong, Huang Zhizhong, Chen Shu and Zhang Yi. Since its debut in China on Sept 17, the movie has topped the Chinese box office with gross receipts of 410 million yuan ($63.4 million) from Sept 17 to Wednesday.
