Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F is a welcomed return to form for the beloved franchise, bringing back Eddie Murphy in the role that defined his career. This sequel is a significant improvement over the lackluster third installment, which is even humorously referenced in one of the film’s funnier moments.

After his daughter’s life is threatened, wisecracking Detective Axel Foley teams up with a new partner and some old pals to turn up the heat on a conspiracy.

The reunion of the original cast (John Ashton, Judge Reinhold, Paul Reiser) brings a wave of nostalgia, and the new additions—Taylour Paige and Joseph Gordon-Levitt—fit seamlessly into the mix, adding fresh energy to the ensemble. Kevin Bacon, despite playing a somewhat predictable role, delivers a performance that harkens back to the charm and style of the original film, which is a delightful throwback.

Fan service is well-executed throughout the movie, paying homage to the past without overindulging in outdated tropes. The balance between nostalgia and innovation is well-maintained, making the film enjoyable for both long-time fans and new viewers.

While the plot may be somewhat predictable, it’s a fun journey that audiences will embrace with open arms. Eddie Murphy shines as Axel Foley, reminding us why this character became such an iconic part of his career. Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F is a fun, feel-good sequel that successfully revitalizes the spirit of the original films.
