Dirty Honey – Can’t Find The Brakes
Dirty Honey’s Can’t Find The Brakes is the most recent of all the albums on the 5 Essential Rock Albums Released in 2023 list. Hailing from Los Angeles, Dirty Honey have produced a Blues Rock album that gives off vibes of 90’s bands The Quireboys, Enuff Z’Nuff and The Electric Boys. Every track is outstanding from the opening riffs of Don’t Put Out The Fire to the albums conclusion Rebel Fire. With frontman Mark LaBelle leading the way and some searing guitar licks from John Notto. CFTB is one album that should be on your playlist now!
Extreme – SIX
Extreme have returned! After an absence of 15 years from their last studio album (Saudades de Rock) Gary Cherone, Nuno Bettncourt, Pat Badger and Kevin Figueiredo are back to rock your darn ears off. The album is like the return of an old friend but with an all new an improved sound. The old Extreme is still there, but the new album is probably the best album they’ve released since Pornograffitti! Crushing anthems (#REBEL, BANSHEE), sweet ballads (HURRICANE, SMALL TOWN BEAUTIFUL) and not what you might expect from Extreme (MASK, X OUT) it all adds up to something absoutely spectacular!
Those Damn Crows – Inhale / Exhale
What a year for Welsh rockers Those Damn Crows. After grsfting their way through support tours and festivals, they finally headlined their hometown stadium in South Wales, following a hugely sucessful UK tour. It was accompanied by their breakout album Inhale / Exhale, one of those rare albums that you simply can’t find one weak track on. Every single track is a smash hit. Standout singles This Time I’m Ready, See You Again, Takedown and Man On Fire are just the tip of the Iceberg. Expect to see a whole lot more from Shane Greenhall, Ronnie Huxford (watch the Screen One interview with Ronnie below), Ian ‘Shiner’ Thomas, Lloyd Wood and Davind Winchurch in the coming months!
Londoners Dead Man’s Whiskey have been around since 2016 and have toured with the likes of Kiss, Warrant and The Darkness. They’ve also performed at Download and were the fan pick to open Stonedead Festival in 2022. But Into The Storm is only their second album. You wouldn’t think it from the perfect craft of this album. Another album where every track is a winner from single Masquerade to power ballad Closer To You. Dead Man’s Whiskey are currently on tour in the UK and we suggest you seek out a venue near you and see them live.
The Dust Coda – Loco Paradise
Last and certainly not least on the 5 Essential Rock Albums Released in 2023 is The Dust Coda’s Loco Paradise. Another band hailing from London, The Dust Coda grab you from the opening Road To Hell and simply don’t let go until the final bars of It Won’t Be Long play at the albums conclusion. Their music is as wild as the album cover! With a serious Rock Groove and quite possibly some Led Zepplin leanings, The Dust Coda simply kick the doors open, ramp up the volume to 100 and rock the place to the ground. Get Loco Paradise into your ears now!
